India vs South Africa-3rd T20I: India win by 48 runs, stay alive in series

India kept themselves alive in the five-match series with a comfortable 48-run win in the third T20I against South Africa here on Tuesday. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan smashed sizzling half centuries to power India to 179 for five after being asked to bat. The bowlers then put up a dominant display to bundle out the Proteas for 131 in 19.1 overs and register their first victory of the series in Visakhapatnam.

Aggressive Harshal Patel & Yuzvendra Chahal

Chasing a target of 180, South Africa kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, and were eventually bowled out for a paltry total of 131. Harshal Patel stole the show with career-best figures of four for 25, while Yuzvendra Chahal also took three wickets.

Earlier, Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad hit fifties as India managed to post a total of 179 for five against South Africa. Gaikwad (57) and Kishan (54) added 97 runs for the opening wicket before South Africa pegged India back with quick blows.

Hardik Pandya Scored

In the end, Hardik Pandya gave some much-needed impetus to the Indian innings, scoring 31 off 21 balls. Earlier, South Africa had won the toss and skipper Temba Bavuma had elected to bowl.

The Proteas now lead the series 2-1 ahead of the four T20I in Rajkot on Friday.
